The Mayflower Society’s 2020 Commemoration

Hampton Luzak

Hampton Luzak is a creative professional whose career has spanned the marketing, feature film, and television industries. Currently restoring historic homes, Hampton Luzak is active in her community as a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants (GSMD).

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, GSMD was formed in 1897 to conduct genealogical research on the Mayflower pilgrims. The society also raises awareness of the historical importance of the pilgrims through educational initiatives and coordination with other historical societies.
As part of this educational mission, the society is planning a 2020 commemorative event honoring the 400-year anniversary of the Mayflower voyage. An ideal opportunity to celebrate the pilgrim ancestors and share their story, the event is being planned by a national committee, with GSMD’s 53 member societies planning celebrations of their own. Currently, a coin series, a stamp from the US Postal Service, and a memorial artwork are among the key initiatives planned for the event.
